The form of the handle which make us think at a monk's hood is  the origin of the name of this knife.

Also named "knife with two nails", the Capucin (Capuchin) is the oldest knife known, as the Romans already used it two thousand years ago. No spring for this piece of antiques but one nail or axle to make the blade wing round and another one to stop it in the open position.
